Dual board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and holder of the ABOG Focused Practice Designation in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. Program Director of the SLS-accredited Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Gynecologic Surgery. Senior or first author on the majority of the Institute’s peer-reviewed output, Principal Investigator on eight industry-sponsored FDA clinical trials, and inventor on three issued United States patents. Editorial board member for BMC Women’s Health, BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, and the American Journal of Clinical Case Reports. NIH Early Stage Investigator.

Ali Azadi, MD
Collaborating Senior Investigator — Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery
Senior co-author on the Institute’s urogynecology and vaginal surgery research, including meta-analyses of laparoscopic versus vaginal uterosacral ligament suspension, uterine-preserving prolapse repair, and vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery. Co-editor of the Textbook of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (CRC Press, 2026), in which he co-authored the chapter on principles of vaginal surgery and vNOTES with Dr. Marchand and Dr. Jan Baekelandt.

Katelyn M. Sainz, MD
Investigator — Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Outcomes
First author of the Institute’s systematic review of neonatal ischemic encephalopathy in operative vaginal delivery versus cesarean at complete dilation (American Journal of Perinatology, 2026) and of the updated meta-analysis of maternal and neonatal outcomes of cannabis use in pregnancy (Maternal Health, Neonatology and Perinatology, 2025). Long-standing contributor across the Institute’s obstetric research line.
Fatma Ibrahim, MD
Investigator — Evidence Synthesis
Contributing author on recent meta-analyses including single- versus double-layer uterine closure and cesarean scar outcomes, and the analysis of lower-carbohydrate and lower-glycemic-index diets in pregnancy.
Ahmed Taher Masoud, MD
Research Methodologist
Statistical and methodological lead on a large share of the Institute’s meta-analytic output, including the JAMA Network Open analysis of birth outcomes after in-utero marijuana exposure and the AJOG Global Reports analysis of COVID-19 in pregnancy. Specialist in random-effects pooling, heterogeneity assessment and network meta-analysis.
Ahmed T. Abdelsattar, MD
Investigator — Evidence Synthesis
Contributing author on the Institute’s work in laparoendoscopic single-site ovarian cystectomy, RSVpreF vaccination in pregnancy, and radical hysterectomy for early stage cervical cancer.

The Institute follows ICMJE authorship criteria. Authorship requires substantial contribution to conception or design, or to acquisition, analysis or interpretation of data; drafting or critical revision of the manuscript; final approval of the version to be published; and accountability for the work. Contributors who do not meet all four criteria are recognised in the acknowledgements rather than listed as authors. We do not offer or accept gift, guest or ghost authorship, and we do not sell authorship positions.
All investigators declare no conflicts of interest. The Institute accepts no pharmaceutical or medical device industry funding for its research programme.
