Dr. Marchand among first in the Nation to Earn the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Focused Practice Designation in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery

The very first examination to earn ABOG’s practice designation was held at testing centers this May 3rd – May 7th 2021, and The Marchand Institute’s own Dr. Greg Marchand was among the first in the country to pass this examination and earn the new designation of “Focused Practice in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery.” In addition to the examination, candidates were required to submit case logs to demonstrate significant experience in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. The designation is not the same as a board certification, but many feel that the practice designation is the first step toward formally recognizing Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS), as a separately boarded subspecialty.
